Love, fire, and passion at the breakfast table

Breakfast is really two meals in one. There's the meal that's little more than fuel to get your day started, and there's the meal you eat to celebrate (or recover from) the excesses of the night before. The food served by owner Jerry Manley at the Flower City Diner is emphatically in the latter category. In business since 2001, but in its new location in the Renaissance Apartment building on the corner of East Avenue and Penfield Road only since June 2007, the Flour City Diner is a shrine to American comfort food, and no meal typifies comfort food more than breakfast where an imaginative cook can transform mundane eggs and sausage, potatoes and bread into something surprising and even inspired.

Owners Jerry and Kim Manley purchased the diner, formerly the Plaza Coffee Shop, in March of 2001 from Reiner and Martina Dralle. After moving the restaurant twice in a little less than a year, the Diner found the perfect location at 2500 East Ave in the Renaissance Apartment Building. 

Jerry Manley the Executive Chef, took his expertise in the kitchen to a new level when he introduced his German influenced menu, to Rochester. Mainstays such as the homemade bratwurst and wiener schnitzel are always found on the menu. Jerry also has some new specials for you to try.

Favorite dishes include: Hand pressed burgers, chicken and biscuits, homemade mac and cheese, marinated flank steak, Shepard's pie, and more... Our Homemade French Fries are hand cut to perfection!

Lets talk breakfast - it's what put us on the map as a Rochester hot spot. Breakfast Menus Include - homemade hash, pirogues and eggs, Irish oatmeal, homemade breakfast sausage, double smoked bacon, and undoubtedly the best pancakes you'll ever have.

The weekend specials change weekly and feature Jerry's original creations such as Bourbon raisin french toast, sweet potato pancakes (which you will die for), French style specialty omelets, and huevos rancheros just to name a few.

Benedict's anyone? No one does it like the Flour City Diner. With a different Benedict every week, Jerry's dishes include Wasabi, Cajun, Irish, Tuscan, Italian, Key West, BLT... The list goes on and you can find it all here.
